Can I get a witness?

John 1:6-8 ESV There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. [7] He came as a witness, to bear witness about the light, that all might believe through him. [8] He was not the light, but came to bear witness about the light.

I remember growing up in church hearing this phrase all the time "Can I get a witness?". Someone would always give a shout to show that they were a witness, but I wonder how many times we have actually been a witness?

Witness - to see, hear, or know by personal presence

The apostle John tells us that there was a man sent by God and his name was John (John the Baptist). Was John a witness for people to see Jesus in him? John 1:7 says he was a witness so people would see Jesus through him. Although he wasn't the light people needed, he was the light bringer.

We can't keep living life as just a Jesus carrier, but we need to show people Jesus through our walk, talk, and actions. We aren't perfect and we will make mistakes but we can still be a witness to the source of light. I don't know about you, but I want to be a witness of the personal experience of presence I've had with Jesus to the world!
